All That Matters will soon be ready for shipping!

It has been such a pleasure and privilege to work with Shawn Conley and Todd Sholar at Red Alert Studios in Gallatin, TN producing All That Matters. For all their energy, work, late hours, laffs, and music - THANKS!!!

Other instrumentalists & vocalists who can be heard on All That Matters include Todd Sholar (various keyboards & percussion), Shawn Conley (bass & electric guitars AND vocal debut on Get Back Behind Me), Geno Weatherbee (drums), Dale Hardiman (drums), Troy Engle (mandolin, octave mandolin, fiddles, dobro, banjo), "Cookie" Weatherbee (backing vocals), the choir of First Presbyterian Church in Gallatin, TN (backing vocals on Lyrica (Celtic Prayer), Abby Sholar (backing vocals on Call That Christmas), Destiny Gleaves (backing vocals on Enough For Everyone) AND my daughter, Meagan McFarland (backing vocals on Enough For Everyone).

Two songs featured on this project have a unique spot in my work/ministry. First of all, Lyrical Freedom Riders, about the 1961 Freedom Riders and the important role they played in the Civil Rights movement in America. Providing the text for the bridge of this song are the famous words of THE Freedom Song - We Shall Overcome. A portion of the proceeds from each CD will go to the We Shall Overcome Fund.

Click here to read more about the We Shall Overcome Fund.

Secondly, Enough For Everyone, a song inspired in part by the Presbyterian Hunger Program will generate another portion of proceeds donated to the Presbyterian Hunger Program.

The entire All That Matters project features "sermon-songs" & a few tunes offering my take on praise/worship music. The collection includes:

Way is now available for MP3 download at disc revolt.com

As a child of the 60s/70s, I continue to LOVE album artwork AND I have grown to like CD liner notes on those smaller pages. But, the cool thing about disc revolt.com are the cards! You can purchase cards online PLUS - at concerts and other appearances - artists can sell credit-card sized access to mp3s in addition to CDs for those of us who need something in our hands.

A portion of my song, Way is featured in a mini-video as part of a new online curriculum of the Presbyterian Church USA and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. Check out the akaloo video

Freedom Riders Song - May 12, 2006

I am currently recording a new song about the pivotal Civil Rights experience of the 1961 Freedom Riders. Some of the Freedom Riders will be in attendance at a gathering of campus ministry professionals and students prior to the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church USA this June in Birmingham, AL. One of the features of this gathering will be a concert I play. Since Freedom songs were so crucial to the bus and prison experience of the Freedom Riders I decided to include some of those songs in my concert.

While an internet search of "Freedom Riders" reveals much, my "Googling" revealed no songs which told the story of these brave folks and this chapter of the Civil Rights era. So, I set out to write/record a song that will hopefully sing the story of what I believe to be a critical turning point in this nation's struggle for civil rights.

To intro the song we were granted permission from Congressman John Lewis of GA's Fifth District and the Birmingham News to use to a soundbyte from the following website - http://www.al.com/unseen/video.ssf?lewis

Part of my inspiration for writing the song was an interview I had with Freedom Rider David Fankhauser. David has an excellent website where I learned much about the experience of these brave folks. David's site - http://biology.clc.uc.edu/fankhauser/Society/freedom_rides/Freedom_Ride_DBF.htm

I will post information here about when & where the song is available for download.
